NEC BxFS Storage Appliance

The NEC BxFS Storage Appliance is built on BeeGFS a parallel cluster file system, designed specifically to manage I/O intensive workloads in performance-critical environments. Based on the unique NEC modular Storage Building Block concept the NEC BxFS Storage Appliance is configured in a High-Availability setup on top of ZFS. The NEC BxFS Storage Appliance is a true software defined storage solution easing administration and maintenance as no kernel patches are required. The client is a patchless kernel module, while the server components are user space daemons. BeeOND a built-in on-demand burst buffer concept and replication feature are only some of the outstanding features of the NEC BxFS Storage Appliance.

NEC GxFS Storage Appliance

NEC GxFS follows a consistent Building Block approach. A NEC GxFS Storage Building Block consists of two certified NEC SNA800 series storage blocks and two NEC server blocks in a high availability configuration. The storage systems are fully redundant connected to the servers using state of the art SAS-3 technology. Storage Servers provide the parallel file system functionality whilst dedicated redundant RAID controllers in the storage building blocks provide storage to the Storage Server. The NEC GxFS Storage Appliance is based on IBM Spectrum Scale (fomerly GPFS) parallel filesystem. IBM Spectrum Scale (aka GPFS) is built from the ground up to scale performance and capacity with no bottlenecks, providing you with extreme scalability for data, metadata.

NEC NVMe over Fabrics

NVMe-oF is a specification-defined extension to NVMe that enables NVMe-based communication over interconnects other than PCIe. This interface makes it possible to connect “external” storage enclosures to a server, either directly or through a switch, while still using NVMe as the fundamental communication mechanism. The NVMe-oF protocol can be carried over multiple different physical interconnects, including transports such as RoCE, InfiniBand, and Fibre Channel. Regardless of the interconnect, NVMe-oF is transport agnostic. Server and storage communicate through NVMe-oF, independent of the underlying transport that is used to carry the NVMe-oF protocol.

NEC QxFS Storage Appliance

The NEC QxFS Storage Platform is based on Quobyte’s next-generation Data Center File Systsem (DCFS), which unifies file, block and object storage for enterprise and scientific applications. Data can be accessed with a native client for Linux, Windows and OS X or using SMB, NFS, HDFS and S3 protocol with common shared ACL allowing simultaneous data access for all protocols. A unique plugin for TensorFlow speeds Machine Leaning workflows, making NEC QxFS Storage Platform an ideal soution combining HPC and Data Analytics.

NEC VDURA Storage

Storage that keeps every GPU and CPU productive. The VDURA Data Platform combines flash-speed parallel file performance with cost-efficient capacity in a single global namespace, so research and AI infrastructure delivers more results per dollar and per watt. Designed, integrated, and supported worldwide by NEC.
